The match against Qatar also marked a major personal milestone for Dzeko, who made his 150th appearance for Bosnia and Herzegovina, further cementing his status as the country's greatest-ever footballer.
In a post on social media, the veteran striker expressed his pride in both the achievement and the team's success.
"Every appearance for Bosnia and Herzegovina carries special meaning, and wearing this shirt for the 150th time holds a special place in my heart. I am incredibly happy and proud that we have secured a place among the world's best 32 national teams. Thank you to everyone who believes in us. This success belongs to the whole team and all of our fans," Dzeko wrote.
The captain reached the landmark after 19 years with the national team, having made his debut in June 2007. Over the course of his 150 appearances, Dzeko has scored 73 goals, making him Bosnia and Herzegovina's all-time leading scorer as well as its most-capped player.
Dzeko and his teammates will now turn their attention to the next challenge at the World Cup, where they will face the United States in the knockout stage, aiming to write another historic chapter in Bosnian football.
